The SLS Mercedes Benz AMG was developed by Mercedes AMG to replace the Mercedes SLR McLaren as a luxury grand tourer. Mercedes Benz has called this new vehicle a “spiritual successor” to the Mercdes 300SL Gullwing.
The new Mercedes model was introduced at the 2009 IAA. Customers could purchase the vehicle in June of 2010 with a selling price of about R1.77 Million Rand. Sales began in June 2011 in the USA for just under $200,000. The car is featured on the Playstation 3 racing car game, called Gran Turismo 5, plus it was the safety vehicle for the Forumla 1 racing seasons of 2010 and 2011.
